One Moment, One Morning - Sarah Rayner

I have just finished reading this book, what a bittersweet moment.

I didn't want it to finish, I loved every second of it

It's been a while since I have read a novel and having missed the days where I used to devour books at an alarming rate i decided to pay Waterstone's a visit and look for something to take me back to that place...

One of the reasons that this book jumped out at me was the front cover... and upon doing some research about the author the story behind how it was chosen makes it even more appealing to me. The photograph was taken by Madelyn Mulvaney...

And some time later the photograph ends up on the publisher's desk and it is decided that this is perfect in representing the themes highlighted in the story.

Just as the novel is about how strangers can become part of each others lives due to situations causing their paths to cross, the British author, Sarah Rayner and the Canadian Photographer, are now, thanks to a photograph of 5 teacups... friends.

The characters in the book lived very seperate lives, until One moment, One morning...

 What do you do?

Right now I study politics at university in England. I try to blog as much as possible.

When did you become interested in fashion?

I have always been interested in fashion ever since I was 11 and I was always getting asked by my friends to dress them for parties or they were asking me to borrow clothes, and I just love helping people put outfits together or shopping for them. I still do that at uni. I only just realised that people (stylists) will actually get paid to do this!
When I was 14, I moved to the UK and I just fell in love with the high street here, its amazing anyone can be on trend because its so affordable, it made me love fashion even more. I love the way English girls dress, it always looks authentic, never too done up. I think London is the best dressed city in Europe.

Who are your style icons?

I have many style icons, from the ages of 15 to 19 my biggest icons were Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen, I honestly had 1000's of pictures of them on my laptop.... I had to delete them all because it started to get a little weird.
I still love them but now I also am inspired by Rosie Huntington-Whitely, Diane Kruger, Vanessa Paradis, Charlotte Casiraghi, Kate Bosworth, and obviously Kate Moss. I think Kate Moss's style is an inspiration to all girls in England. I hate saying that because its a cliche... but its true. Old school inspiration comes from Bianca Jagger and Ali MacGraw.

Describe your style in 3 words:

My style is hard to describe it completely depends on how I'm feeling or how I want others to perceive me. I think its impossible to describe in 3 words because it changes so much!

What do you see yourself doing in the next 5yrs?

My biggest aspiration would be to go into acting because I loved drama at school, however I know its not the easiest industry to break into.... Hopefully in 5 years I'll be working for a fashion publication or working in TV in some way. If my blog was to become more widely recognized in the next 5 years that would be immense!

Roksanda Ilincic

Roksanda Ilincic is a designer I've only just come to know about, though she is well established in the industry.

I instantly fell in love with her designs which beautifully pay homage to her Slavic origins.

She has been patronised by the likes of Michelle Obama:

and Gwyneth Paltrow:

Here are some of my favourite items from her collections...
